Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) is enshrined in the 6th of the FSA's 11 Principles for Business FSA Handbook.
The FSA has a TCF section on its website. This features, amongst other things, a "self assessment tool" designed to prompt smaller firms on the areas they need to focus on to make sure they are treating their customers fairly.
In addition to the FSA, there are other sources of information on TCF.
The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has two factsheets on TCF that AMI members can access. One is A Guide to Treating Customers Fairly, the other is Developing TCF and includes information specifically for small firms. It also includes a gap analysis tool for firms to see where they need to put most resource.
The tcfinfo website offers practical guidance to mortgage intermediaries on how to implement the principle of TCF. It offers plain English tips, tools and templates for own-branding, and has been developed following research undertaken with over 300 mortgage intermediaries into their understanding and concerns about TCF. Supported by seven founder lenders, and over 20 other lenders, co-ordinated and managed by Frank Eve Consulting Limited, ‘TCF Info’ aims to offer a ‘one stop TCF shop’ tailored to the needs of intermediaries.
