CML Lenders' Handbook

New proposed changes: We are developing a set of standard instructions for a conveyancer, in the event that he/she is representing the lender separately from the borrower in a residential conveyancing transaction. This is referred to as 'separate representation'. The instructions, which consist of a draft set of instructions and an example template letter, were consulted on during the summer and we are now reviewing the responses. The intention is to finalise the instructions for publication in the England and Wales Lenders' Handbook in May 2012.

The CML Lenders' Handbook provides comprehensive instructions for conveyancers acting on behalf of lenders in residential conveyancing transactions. It is divided into two parts. Part 1 sets out the main instructions. Part 2 details each lender's specific requirements. There is a Lenders' Handbook for each legal jurisdiction in the UK.

Use the search below to select a region and/or a lender's part 2 response. You can view the part 1 or part 2 individually or in the same document. You can also view all lenders' responses to a specific question - simply browse to any lender part 2, find the question and click on 'View all answers to the question'.

If a lender is not listed in the search they may not sign up to the Handbook and you should contact them direct. If you have any queries about the Handbook please view the FAQs section. See our Summary of amendments for previous versions of the Handbook part 1.
