Training solutions for the mortgage industry

Welcome to the CML e-learning website.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders is the UK trade body representing mortgage lenders. In conjunction with Absolutely, a leading e-learning solutions provider, we provide online learning that is delivered direct to your desktop. Your employees will be equipped with the vital knowledge they need to ensure compliance with the FSA mortgage regulation regimes.

With the Mortgage and Insurance Conduct of Business rules in place, Arrears and Possessions best practice and the forthcoming Treating Customers Fairly deadline, training your workforce is an ongoing commitment. Our courses are designed to target all key areas of the Mortgage sector.

Importance of training

The FSA requires companies to maintain sufficient levels of training and competence. The onus is on companies to prove that these requirements are met, monitored and recorded. Companies failing to do so can be penalised by the FSA. With consumer groups and the Government scrutinising lenders' treatment of borrowers facing difficulty, you need to be sure your staff are fulfilling FSA requirements and treating customers fairly.
  • Are you doing the right thing?
  • Are your staff confident that they can demonstrate a commitment to training and ensure that they understand what is required in the arrears management process?
  • Would the Financial Ombudsman Service find in your favour if they were to investigate any complaints about arrears handling?

Arrears and Possessions training.

With a gap in training material identified by the CML Arrears and Possessions panel, we have brought together an expert team of authors to create this suite of vitally important e-learning courses. The CML and Absolutely have already trained tens of thousands of industry users on MCOB packages since 2001 and have the experience and know-how in delivering effective training.

How it works

Our courses are modular and based around the structure of the FSA Rulebooks. Training managers, supervisors or the individual user can select the courses most appropriate to each job role.

Access to the courses is provided via individual passwords and the user is tracked and recorded, providing an essential audit trail of training.

Each module ends with a test, based on a series of random multi-choice questions.
