CML to re-launch improved Handbook

CML to re-launch improved Handbook

The CML is re-launching its Lenders' Handbook on Wednesday and is taking the opportunity to introduce a range of improvements to the service.

The Handbook, which is available only on the CML website, comprises instructions from lenders to conveyancers acting on their behalf. Part One provides generic instructions to conveyancers from all lenders, and has separate sections covering England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man. Part Two provides specific instructions on behalf of individual lenders.

As part of the re-launch, the CML is taking the opportunity to improve the functionality of the Handbook by providing:

  • a secure area for lenders to update all their Part Two instruction in one place;
  • a more intuitive layout;
  • the ability to search within Part One and Part Two;
  • contextual help throughout Part One, including a section of frequently asked questions; and
  • flexibility to allow new questions to be added by the CML and then rolled out for lenders to update before going live.

Users of the Handbook will be able to follow a link from it to the Lender Monitor website, which will enable conveyancers to see at a glance whether there have been any changes to Part Two.

As part of the re-launch, the CML is making a number of substantial formatting and clause numbering amendments to the Handbook. There are also some material amendments both to Part One and Part Two, affecting England and Wales, and Scotland.

Users of the Handbook should check carefully to ensure that they are using the most up-to-date version and not the previous one, introduced in 2007.
