Background

The effects of the ‘credit crunch’ have changed the dynamics within the mortgage industry. With lenders still squeezed by lack of liquidity and uncertainty around the need for further capital injections, the industry has been cutting costs and looking for ways to streamline processes. The pressure is on the intermediary market, with the FSA reviewing mortgage regulation which may change the lender intermediary relationship. The arrears and possession process, and the drive to increase retail deposits have all added to the need for change, and to look at IT as a deliverer of that change.

It is within this backdrop that new e-commerce and IT investment strategies need to be implemented across the industry. New ways to use and view technology will now be required to meet the challenges of this new environment.

The CML’s first annual mortgage solutions conference will address the major issues facing lenders, bring together heads of IT and senior mortgage professionals as well as directors and chief executives to help develop joint-up-thinking across lenders.

Conference chair:

Keith Tutton, Associate Partner, IBM
Keith has over 35 years experience delivering IT enabled solutions and applications to Financial Services clients. He has a strong IT background having worked in computer operations, programming and analysis and design. Keith ‘has had the luxury’ of defining the functional requirements and the high level technical design for two successful international banking packages. He has also held sales and marketing roles both in the UK and Internationally, always in the Financial sector.

More recently, Keith has spent the last 13 years in consultancy for PwC and now IBM, where he is an Associate Partner. His engagements have ranged from developing target operating models for a number of the leading UK banks to the design and development of integrated risk and finance reporting solutions. In his current role, he specialises in designing complex solutions involving all aspects of IBM’s offerings as well as those from IBM’s partners. He also enjoys regular workshops with clients addressing future market trends and sharing experiences from clients across Europe and further afield.
