From 1st July the Council of Mortgage Lenders is integrated into a new trade association, UK Finance. For the time being, all UKF mortgage information will continue to be published on this website, and UKF member-only mortgage information will only be available here.

UK Finance represents around 300 firms in the UK providing credit, banking, markets and payment-related services. The new organisation takes on most of the activities previously carried out by the Asset Based Finance Association, the British Bankers’ Association, the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Financial Fraud Action UK, Payments UK and the UK Cards Association. This masterclass explored issues relating to mortgagees attempting to have alterations made to the Register, including rectification, fraud and accidental error. It covered how to identify and avoid these, plus what can be done should an alteration be made against lender interests.

Michael Walsh

Michael Walsh is a barrister at Tanfield Chambers. His practice encompasses all aspects of the law of property, with a particular emphasis on development and mortgages.  He continues to act for some of the UK's largest lenders in claims involving undue influence, mortgage fraud, priority of interests and subrogation.

Michael is the co-editor of the 9th edition of Megarry’s Manual of the Law of Real Property and is also a visiting lecturer in the law of property at King’s College London
