From 1st July the Council of Mortgage Lenders is integrated into a new trade association, UK Finance. For the time being, all UKF mortgage information will continue to be published on this website, and UKF member-only mortgage information will only be available here.

UK Finance represents around 300 firms in the UK providing credit, banking, markets and payment-related services. The new organisation takes on most of the activities previously carried out by the Asset Based Finance Association, the British Bankers’ Association, the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Financial Fraud Action UK, Payments UK and the UK Cards Association. The number of loans for house purchase in Scotland reached its highest level in the fourth quarter of 2013 since the second quarter of 2008, new CML data shows.

Gross UK mortgage lending rose 12% in July to £16.7 billion, up from £14.9 billion in June and 29% on last July. Survey results published by the Council of Mortgage Lenders today show that this growth in July continued to be buoyed by home-owner house purchase lending, in particular by growth in first-time buyers.
